Glador introduces boats and a new fishing system in Metin2

Glador has expanded its fishing system with a new mechanic that allows players to rebuild sunken ships and obtain their own boats. The update introduces ship fragments, a collection of four vessels, additional bonuses and the ability to freely sail across the water. The system is currently available in BETA and is intended to be tested more extensively by the server community.

For players following private Metin2 servers, this is one of the more notable additions to Glador's side activities. Fishing is no longer limited to catching fish and obtaining items. Players now have an additional progression system where continued fishing allows them to gradually rebuild their own fleet.

New ship fragment system

The foundation of the new mechanic is a collection of fragments from sunken ships. While fishing, players can find a special chest which, when used from the inventory, allows them to attempt to add a fragment to the ship currently being rebuilt.

Collection progress can be checked directly through the fishing interface. A new "Ships" button next to the fishing bar opens and closes a window showing the current fleet restoration progress. This allows players to keep track of the number of collected fragments and see how many are still needed to complete a particular vessel.

The ships must be rebuilt in a specific order. The first stage is the Gulf Cutter, followed by additional vessels until players eventually reach the Royal Galleon. Completing each ship grants a specific bonus while also unlocking the next boat.

Gulf Cutter

The first ship requires 20 fragments. Once completed, it provides +20% Yang from fish. Completing this stage also unlocks the first boat and allows players to begin using their own vessel.

Merchant Caravel

The second ship requires 30 fragments. Completing it increases the chance of catching a larger fish by 20%. This provides another incentive for players who regularly use fishing as part of their gameplay.

Corsair Frigate

The third vessel requires 40 fragments. Its completion grants 5% skill resistance. At this stage, the system starts to provide a bonus that is not directly limited to fishing and can also affect combat.

Royal Galleon

The final stage requires 50 fragments. Completing the Royal Galleon grants 5% increased damage while transformed. Once the entire fleet has been completed, the bonuses from all finished ships are added together.

How can players obtain ship fragments?

The new fragments are directly connected to the fishing system. During regular fishing, the special chest currently has a 7% chance to appear. During fishing sessions, this chance is reduced to 3.5%.

Fishing sessions also use an additional mechanic for targeting the chest. If a chest appears during the session, the hook prioritizes it. However, hitting the chest does not automatically guarantee a ship fragment. After successfully catching the chest, there is a separate 80% chance of obtaining the fragment.

The system also accounts for duplicate fragments. If a player receives a fragment that has already been added to the collection, the duplicate is not consumed when attempting to add it again. This prevents already collected fragments from simply being wasted.

Once the entire fleet has been completed, fragment chests will stop appearing. This gives the collection a defined endpoint rather than leaving the mechanic active indefinitely after all ships have been obtained.

Your own boat on Glador

The most important part of the update is the ability to obtain a personal boat and freely sail across the water. Access to the first vessel is connected to completing the first ship, the Gulf Cutter. Completing the following collections unlocks additional boats.

This gives Glador's fishing system an additional layer that goes beyond simply catching fish. Players now have a long-term collection goal, while progress also translates into new bonuses and access to further boats.

Among the many private Metin2 servers, custom mechanics can play an important role in differentiating individual projects. In Glador's case, the new system focuses on expanding fishing and making water another area of activity for players.

Boats are currently in BETA

Glador's administration has stated that the boat system is currently available in BETA. This means that the mechanic is still being tested and individual elements may be changed after player feedback and reports.

As part of the testing phase, boats will initially also be available during fishing sessions. This should allow a larger number of players to test the new mechanic in practice and report potential bugs. At this point, there is no final decision on whether boats will remain permanently available during this event.

For players, this means that the current version should not necessarily be considered the final form of the system. Testing may result in changes to how boats work as well as how and when they are made available.

Fishing now has a new progression goal

The new mechanic changes the role of fishing on Glador. Instead of treating fishing solely as a way to obtain fish and additional items, players can now work towards a long-term collection by gathering fragments and gradually rebuilding the entire fleet.

A total of 140 fragments is required to complete all four ships - 20 for the Gulf Cutter, 30 for the Merchant Caravel, 40 for the Corsair Frigate and 50 for the Royal Galleon. In return, players receive four cumulative bonuses and access to the corresponding boats.

The system can therefore appeal both to players who already spend a lot of time fishing and to those looking for an additional objective outside of standard character progression. It also follows a direction seen on some modern Metin2 private servers, where familiar activities are expanded with additional progression systems.

A final assessment of the mechanic will have to wait, however. Glador has released the boats as a BETA feature, and their availability during fishing sessions may also change. For now, players can start collecting fragments, rebuild the first vessel and test what sailing their own boat is like.

For players browsing Metin2 servers in search of projects with additional gameplay mechanics, Glador is adding another system that expands on the classic elements of the game. This time, the starting point is fishing, while the new features include sunken ships, fragment collecting and building your own fleet.
