Alune S2 Announced for 2026 - the Metin2 Server Returns in a New Edition

The Alune staff announced on Discord that work on Alune S2 is underway. It's a significant announcement for the Polish Metin2 private server scene, because the current edition of Alune has been running since 2021 and in that time has built one of the more recognizable communities among players looking for Easy/Medium servers.

According to the staff's announcement, Alune S2 is set to arrive later in 2026. No exact launch date has been given, though. The creators say they don't want to announce a date until the server is ready and meets their expectations. At least two betas are planned: a closed one first, followed by an open one available to all players.

You can find the current version of the server on the Alune page in the Metin2 server ranking. It's also worth checking the full list of Metin2 private servers if you're looking for active projects or want to compare Alune with other servers.

Alune S2 won't be a copy of the current server

The key takeaway from the announcement is simple: Alune S2 isn't meant to be a copied version of the current Alune S1. The staff plan to build the server from scratch, while keeping the Easy/Medium style players associate with Alune.

The current edition of Alune launched on November 6, 2021 and, according to public information, runs as an Easy/Medium server. In the server's original presentation, the staff described the gameplay as easier at the start and gradually moving into a more demanding stage of character progression. Now the creators want to use Alune's recognizable elements but adapt them to what players expect today.

In practice, that means reworking many elements that may have aged over the years. The announcement mentions, among other things, optimization, better anti-cheat protection, revamped 2D graphics, new maps, new dungeons, new systems and a farmblock. The staff also say that the gameplay and balance will largely be built from the ground up.

What will remain of Alune's atmosphere?

The creators stress that Alune S2 will keep some of the character of the first edition. As an example, the announcement mentions group dungeons, which over the years have been one of the server's most recognizable features.

At the same time, Alune S2 is meant to be treated as a new beginning rather than a rerun of the same formula. The staff state plainly that the goal is to rediscover the game, not another launch built on identical solutions. This is especially important in the context of the current S1, which through successive updates expanded the glory system, new maps, dungeons and further stages of progression.

The latest public materials about Alune S1 included glory level 35, new regions, maps, dungeons and relics. However, the announcement makes it clear that after that update, glory level 35 will no longer be expanded with major updates. S1 will keep running, but the main development focus will shift to Alune S2.

No relics for SM and no personalized extras

The announcement also includes specific information about paid content and cosmetic items. On Alune S2, players won't see, among other things, relics for SM, personalized costumes or hwangs. That's an important detail, because the topic of the Item Shop and advantages from paid extras often stirs up a lot of emotion on Metin2 private servers.

The staff are also announcing changes to seasonal events. Christmas, Halloween and similar events are meant to be less repetitive and more unique. According to the creators, the goal is to bring back the atmosphere of the server's best years, but in a new formula.

When does Alune S2 launch?

For now, all we know is that Alune S2 is set to arrive in 2026. The exact launch date hasn't been announced yet. The staff plan to share progress updates later, and at least two betas will take place before the actual launch.

For players, this means it's worth keeping an eye on the staff's upcoming announcements, especially if you played on Alune S1, are coming back after a break or are waiting for a fresh start with an Easy/Medium feel. The S2 announcement suggests a bigger overhaul of the project rather than just another academy or a classic restart.

At metin2ranking.pl, we'll keep following Alune S2 and update this information as new details emerge about the beta, the launch date, the server presentation or its key systems.
